I was really looking forward to the release of this book, and I am not disappointed. This is a really great read. Continue reading
Review: Anna Dressed in Blood
Dude! I just finished ANNA DRESSED IN BLOOD, and I am seriously excited. I may have mentioned somewhere that I teach a college course in Gothic and Supernatural Fiction. I like my monsters creepy and scary. Sparkly? Not so much.
Which is one of the reasons I really enjoyed ANNA. Continue reading
Real-life adventure
Recent YA novels contain so much over-the-top adventure that it’s easy to forget that life on Earth is filled with adventure that’s a lot more low-key but maybe more intense, especially for the people who go through it. Continue reading
FORGOTTEN is a real page-turner!
Wow! I’m still reeling from yesterday. Or maybe it’s tomorrow. Whatever. I’m a little behind in my reading, so I’ve just gotten around to FORGOTTEN by Cat Patrick, which came out this past summer. Picked it up yesterday and read it in a single setting. This is very unusual for me, almost unheard of. What a great story. Continue reading
British Library puts old newspapers online
How cool is this? The British Library has spent years scanning 19th century newspapers into a searchable online database. Today it officially opened for business. It’s not free, but you can get reasonable rates for periods of 48 hours to a year. Searching is free. This will be a great tool for historical novelists. Mostly, it’s just plain cool. First Post
I hereby declare my new blog open for business. For the most part, I’ll use it to post items about my writing and writing in general. If I read a book that knocks my socks off, I’ll write about it here. A lot of my personal interests find their way into my fiction, so I’ll consider them fair game for blogging as well. And, since it is my blog after all, don’t be surprised if I write about something that has nothing to do with anything.
FWIW, I do all my own web design. In this case, the first thing I did was lay out my regular website. Then I adapted a normal WordPress theme so that the blog would match the website. (If you find the design unattractive, blame Satan.)
